Ruta de las Torres

Pimentel Tower
This historic monument, with Nasrid roots, stands out for its unique architecture and its connection with old mills, offering a journey into the past.
The Pimentel Tower was built between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries. Around it are several of the main mills powered by the water flowing from the springs at the foot of the mountain.
The Torre de los Molinos or Torre de Pimentel has its origin in the Nasrid period and is mentioned in the Ordinances of the city of Malaga in 1497. The name Torre de Pimentel is due to its relationship with a resident of Malaga, perhaps Juan Pimentel, Master of the Order of Alcántara, or Rodrigo de Pimentel, Count of Benavente.
Its shape is almost a rectangular prism, and it is approximately twelve meters high.
