The Torre de Calahonda

The Torre de Calahonda

An ideal snorkelling destination, with an artificial reef that is home to rich marine life and easy access, perfect for exploring the underwater biodiversity.

Submerged there is a triangular reef artificially formed with rocks from the San Telmo quarry sunk around the year 1900.

Today it is a true generator of life in one of the last places in the city where you can snorkel when the east wind creates the calm sea.

The snorkeling area is shallow above the rocky area, where it is only one and a half to two meters deep, so it is very easy to access from both sides.

Snorkeling you will see that it is full of shallow marine species such as schools of small anchovies, castanets, mojaras and sargos. And on the rocks you can see beautiful spirographs, anemones, serranids, damselfish, hermit crabs, octopuses, scorpion fish and nudibranchs.

  • Diving: From land
  • Maximum depth: 3m
  • Recommendations: Do not touch the marine fauna and flora, be careful of the finning on the bottom.
