Senda Azul

Heading into the wind
The Placer de las Bóvedas is a submerged mountain surrounded by canyons and depths of more than 150 meters. Its summit is a plateau with a shallower area of 17 to 24 meters. However, if you go down to the adjacent areas, you can easily reach 40 meters.
Its spectacular underwater topography makes this place one of the most popular dives for experienced divers. Its considerable distance, 5 miles from the coast off San Pedro Alcántara and El Saladillo de Estepona, favors the passage and proliferation of abundant species.
Here you can see large groupers, moray eels, conger eels, and sparids. As well as false coral, gorgonians, calcareous algae of various colors and a varied flora that covers the slopes of the underwater mountain.
When the waters are calm, visibility can reach 30 meters, but you have to be careful because if you don't prepare the dive well by looking at the tide tables, you can encounter strong currents. If you have enough experience, you can't miss this amazing dive.
