Senda Azul

Eastern Marine Expedition
Along the coast is the Punta de Torremolinos, a small geographical feature that splits the township in two and acts as the border between the beaches of La Carihuela and Bajondillo. It is part of the travertines, a geological formation of great scenic value that runs down into the historic center, forming numerous caves, some of great archaeological significance for the prehistoric remains found in them.
From the defensive point of view, this town has always been a strategic place in relation to the western end of the Bay of Malaga and its port.
The travertines of this area are considered a geological relic in which springs and caves proliferate. In some cases, due to erosion caused by the force of the sea, hollows were formed that were used for shelter by the first human settlements.
